Terms
Backyard Market connects neighbours in Greater Brisbane who have produce to sell, swap or give away. By using it, you agree to the following.
What we do and don’t do
We provide the listings, messages and reservations. We aren’t a party to anything you arrange, we don’t take payment, and we don’t grow, handle, inspect or deliver anything. Any deal is between the two of you.
Food rules are the seller’s job
If you list food, you’re responsible for what you offer being safe and for meeting the laws that apply to it, including Queensland food safety law and your council’s rules. Rules can differ between eggs, honey, home-made preserves and fresh produce, so check before you list. Be honest about what’s in it and how it was made.
If you’re collecting food, use your own judgment, and ask if you have an allergy.
Listing and meeting
List only what’s yours to offer, and describe it honestly. Don’t list animals, weapons, medicines, alcohol, anything illegal or anything unsafe. Be respectful in messages. Take the usual care when meeting someone new or having them come to your home.
Reservations
A reservation holds stock for you. Sellers have 48 hours to accept, and an accepted reservation is held for 7 days. Keep the address you’re given to yourself, and use it only for the pickup.
When things go wrong
Report anything that breaks these rules. We can hide listings or posts and close accounts. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Otherwise, we provide the site as it is, and we aren’t liable for what’s arranged through it.
